Welcome to Munich International Symposium on Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

In 1987 the first course on Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery was held at Ludwig-Maximilian-University Eye Hospital and evolved since to a constant reference in the field. In 2013 for the first time this course will be organized as an English speaking International symposium, facilitating our audience and faculty from abroad and home to communicate.

The interest in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive surgery has increased during the last 25 years. The Munich symposium aims to meet this interest and offers the opportunity to learn more about established and current state-of-the-art procedures and to discuss recent developments. Topics include both functional and aesthetic eyelid surgery, periorbital tumour management and lid reconstruction, lacrimal surgery and tissue engineering. An outstanding faculty representing opinion leaders in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery will give their best to impart knowledge and know-how.

For young residents and newcomers a hands-on wet-lab with a practical tutorial on suture techniques and basic surgical procedures is organized at the end of the symposium.

The Bavarian capital of Munich in Southern Germany enjoys a favourable location in the heart of Europe close to the Alps. The city as one of Germany´s most popular destinations has much to offer. At this time of the year, the Christkindl´s market opens its doors, and the typically blue and white Bavarian sky might already get snowy.

On behalf of the Munich Ludwig-Maximilians-University group on Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery you are cordially invited to join this symposium from 28 - 30 November 2013.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to Munich in November 2013!
